Productivity…

Published by conall at 1:32 under Personal, Travel, Work

So, what have I done in the last week?

I’ve made a little headway with the fyp, but nothing significant (in my mind). I’ll be happy when I’ve chalked up milstone 4 (distributed, GPG encrypted messaging) out of all 5 (milestone 4, with crazy ass IP Multicast stuff). Mainly because I’ll actually have something to show then.

I’ve also made various attempts to avoid work, including adding some commands to an existing Vim cheat sheet that are of interest to me. I’ve also dabbled briefly in making a self portrait (as inspired by an amusing gallery – kudos to Niall, it looks like his handy work), reading about PF Firewalling and various other non fyp related activities.

To aid the clear distinction between fyp related work and proper study, I’m escaping off to London for a few days shortly after I demonstrate my project. After all, I’ll need some much deserved R&R…

Other than college work, I’ve recently begun the proper job hunt. So far, potential employees applied to thus far are starting to become interested, so prospects are good.

I gave in today and bought myself a copy of GTD, since many of the RSS feeds I’ve begun to read on time management topics refer to it often. I’ve also been following the Inbox Zero tips on 43 Folders over the last week and a bit. Things seems to be getting better, but I’ve been resisting adopting certain tools, such as kGTD (I know I’ll end up using it, eventually…)
